Joshua W. Walker氏は、Japan SocietyのPresident & CEOであり、『Japan, Beyond the Genkan』の著者。北海道で育ち、日米双方に深い知見を持つ。Japan Societyが120年近くにわたって果たしてきた日米の架け橋としての役割を体現しながら、日本が米国のイノベーション・エコシステムでいかにして「投資プレゼンス」から「イノベーションプレゼンス」へシフトできるかを問い続けている。

Joshua W. Walker is President & CEO of Japan Society and author of Japan, Beyond the Genkan. Raised in Hokkaido with deep ties to both countries, he embodies Japan Society’s nearly 120-year legacy as a bridge between Japan and the United States. He is a leading voice on how Japan can shift from an investment presence to a genuine innovation presence within the American ecosystem.

Elan Fox氏は、ニューヨークを拠点に国際スタートアップの米国展開を支援するSOSAにて、アクセラレータープログラムを統括する。150社以上の海外スタートアップ支援に携わってきた経験をもとに、パートナーシップの構築、商業化の進め方、資金調達など、実務的な視点からNY市場での事業展開を支援している。

Elan Fox leads accelerator programs at SOSA, a New York-based organization supporting international startups entering and scaling in the U.S. market. Drawing on his experience working with over 150 international startups, he provides practical guidance on building partnerships, driving commercialization, and navigating fundraising in the U.S.

Anne-Sophie Mahle氏は、ニューヨーク市の経済開発を担う公的機関「New York City Economic Development Corporation（NYCEDC）」のDirector of International Partnershipsを務める。海外のスタートアップや大学・研究機関がニューヨークに進出・連携するための支援プログラムを統括し、グローバルなイノベーション・エコシステムの構築に取り組んでいる。

Anne-Sophie Mahle serves as Director of International Partnerships at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), a public organization dedicated to driving economic growth in New York City. She oversees programs that support international startups, universities, and research institutions in establishing a presence and building connections in New York, working to foster a globally connected innovation ecosystem.

Murat Aktihanoglu 氏は、ニューヨークを代表するテクノロジー・アクセラレーター兼アーリーステージVC「ERA」の共同創業者でマネージング・パートナー。2011年の設立以来、全アクセラレーター・コホートおよび全ファンドを統括し、これまでに375社以上のスタートアップに投資してきた。2007年には非営利団体「Entrepreneurs Roundtable」を設立し、ニューヨークのスタートアップ・コミュニティ形成に貢献している。

Murat Aktihanoglu is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of ERA, one of New York’s leading technology accelerators and early-stage venture capital firms. Since co-founding ERA in 2011, he has overseen every accelerator cohort and investment fund, leading investments in more than 375 startups. In 2007, he also founded the nonprofit organization Entrepreneurs Roundtable, which has played a key role in fostering New York City’s startup community.

記念すべき第１回目は、室田浩司さん（京都大学　副理事（社会連携・イノベーション推進担当）兼　成長戦略本部 本部長）をお招きして、11月21日に収録を行ないました。

室田さんは、NINEJPにおいては、海外拠点の高度活用を担われておられます。

そこで、第1回目らしく、室田さんにNINEJPをはじめとした日本の大学におけるグローバル展開の方向性、そのなかでの米国東海岸における活動と今後の戦略に関して、お話しいただきました。

For our memorable first episode, we welcomed Mr. Koji Murota (Deputy Executive Director of Kyoto University, Director-General for the office of institutional advancement and communication) and recorded the session on November 21.

Mr. Murota is responsible for the advanced utilization of overseas hubs within NINEJP.

In this inaugural session, we asked him to discuss the direction of global expansion at NINEJP and Japanese universities along with current activities on the U.S. East Coast and the strategies moving forward.
