NY進出のその先へ — Founders’ Voices from NYC

これまでの第1回〜第4回では、日本の大学・研究機関におけるグローバル戦略、ニューヨークで求められるマインドセット、現地エコシステムへの具体的な入口、そして実際にNYで事業をスケールさせるための視点について議論してきました。第5回となる今回は、ERAやSOSAなど、ニューヨークを代表するアクセラレーターの支援を受けながら、実際にNYで事業を展開しているスタートアップ創業者たちを迎え、パネルディスカッション形式でお送りします。

ウェビナーでは、

なぜNY進出を決めたのか
実際に現地で直面した課題
アクセラレーターはどのように役立ったのか
ネットワークや資金調達はどう進めたのか
日本とNYのスタートアップ環境の違い

などについて、“実際に挑戦している当事者”の視点からリアルな経験を共有いただきます。

これまでのウェビナーで紹介してきた「NYエコシステム」が、実際のスタートアップの現場ではどのように機能しているのかを理解できる回となります。NY進出を検討しているスタートアップや大学関係者にとって、現地でのリアルな動きを知る貴重な機会です。

From Entry to Growth in NYC — Founders’ Voices from the Ecosystem

Across the first four webinars, this series has explored Japan’s global innovation strategy, the mindset required to succeed in New York, the practical pathways into the NYC ecosystem, and what it takes to scale a business in the U.S. market.
In this fifth session, we will hear directly from startup founders who have participated in accelerator programs such as ERA and SOSA and are actively building their businesses in New York.

Through a panel discussion format, founders will share firsthand perspectives on topics including:

Why they chose New York
Challenges they faced entering the ecosystem
How accelerator programs supported their growth
Building networks and fundraising in the U.S.
Differences between the Japanese and New York startup environments

This session will provide a real-world look at how the NYC innovation ecosystem actually functions from the perspective of founders operating within it. For startups, researchers, and universities considering expansion into New York, it will offer valuable and practical insights into what it truly means to build a presence in the city.

Guest: Anne-Sophie Mahle Anne-Sophie Mahle氏は、ニューヨーク市の経済開発を担う公的機関「New York City Economic Development Corporation（NYCEDC）」のDirector of International Partnershipsを務める。海外のスタートアップや大学・研究機関がニューヨークに進出・連携するための支援プログラムを統括し、グローバルなイノベーション・エコシステムの構築に取り組んでいる。
Anne-Sophie Mahle serves as Director of International Partnerships at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), a public organization dedicated to driving economic growth in New York City. She oversees programs that support international startups, universities, and research institutions in establishing a presence and building connections in New York, working to foster a globally connected innovation ecosystem.Watch Archived Video

Guest: Murat Aktihanoglu ムラト・アクティハノグル氏は、ニューヨークを代表するテクノロジー・アクセラレーター兼アーリーステージVC「ERA」の共同創業者でマネージング・パートナー。2011年の設立以来、全アクセラレーター・コホートおよび全ファンドを統括し、これまでに375社以上のスタートアップに投資してきた。
起業家・投資家・技術者・著者としても活躍。2008年には位置情報型SNS「Centrl」を創業。2007年には非営利団体「Entrepreneurs Roundtable」を設立し、ニューヨークのスタートアップ・コミュニティ形成に貢献している。
これまでAT&T、ソニー、パナソニックなど世界的企業で技術責任者を務め、テック系カンファレンスの登壇者としても知られる。米日カウンシル評議員なども歴任。

Guest: 室田浩司さん記念すべき第１回目は、室田浩司さん（京都大学　副理事（社会連携・イノベーション推進担当）兼　成長戦略本部本部長）をお招きして、11月21日に収録を行ないました。
室田さんは、NINEJPにおいては、海外拠点の高度活用を担われておられます。
そこで、第1回目らしく、室田さんにNINEJPをはじめとした日本の大学におけるグローバル展開の方向性、そのなかでの米国東海岸における活動と今後の戦略に関して、お話しいただきました。
For our memorable first episode, we welcomed Mr. Koji Murota (Deputy Executive Director of Kyoto University, Director-General for the office of institutional advancement and communication) and recorded the session on November 21.
Mr. Murota is responsible for the advanced utilization of overseas hubs within NINEJP.
In this inaugural session, we asked him to discuss the direction of global expansion at NINEJP and Japanese universities along with current activities on the U.S. East Coast and the strategies moving forward. Watch Archived Video
